This recent body of work is inspired by all the peculiar, unexpected and often surprising messiness left behind, after getting creative with an array of materials.

The artwork itself is a series of images which began as a visual recording of anything, from a forgotten scribble with a graphite pencil, to a spectacular, accidental spillage of paintbrush water all over some newsprint. The work then takes shape, but in the form of what is on the worktop, rather than what is going to go on the canvas.

By scooping up the scraps and the residue of whatever creative, visual art that has taken place; printmaking for example or painting, or even someone’s paint palette or drawing board, the work then begins to take shape and eventually becomes an actual finished piece in mixed media.

The goal is to turn something invisible, into something people can see, appreciate and to celebrate; rather than ignore, and more than likely, tidy away or discard.
